Après l'annonce du classement hommes de samedi dernier c'est au tour des femmes de se faire récompenser. Les meilleures joueuses du Swatch FIVB World Tour 2009 ont été désignées hier à Lausanne. Ces nominations sont basées sur le résultat des votes des représentants Swatch, des joueurs, des coachs, des arbitres et des officiels du circuit international de Beach volleyball.
A noter que c'est Juliana qui reçoit la distinction de Most Oustanding Player ce qui confirme son statut de très grande joueuse et qui effacera en partie sa grande déception de ne pas avoir participer aux JO en 2008.

Et de 2 pour April Ross et Jennifer Kessy qui gagne une fois de plus le Phuket Thailand Open en battant encore en finale Tyra Turner associée cette fois à Angie Akers (en 2008 elle avait joué avec Nicole Branagh).
Pour April et Jennifer cette médaille d'Or est la 4ème de la saison sur 8 finales jouées et sur 12 participations au Swatch FIVB World Tour 2009.
Bilan qui les place à la 3ème place du World Tour 2009 en plus d'avoir été Championnes du Monde à Stavanger le 4 juillet dernier. Côté Money prize, les voilà à la tête d'une cagnotte de 278 200$ mais à cela il faudra ajouter les 219 700$ gagnés sur l'AVP Crocs Tour 2009 (4 titres gagnés avec 9 finales sur 10 étapes auxquelles elles ont participé en dehors du Brésil vs USA et du Best of the Beach).
Pour Angie Akers et Tyra Turner belle saison aussi en finissant 5ème du Swatch FIVB World Tour 2009 avec 4 5ème place, 4 demi finales et 2 podiums à leur actif (1 médaille d'argent et 1 de bronze).
Le bronze est allé aux russes Maria Bratkova - Eugenia Ukolova (23 et 20 ans) qui commencent à ressentir les bienfaits de "l'Effet Selznick" puisque l'un des meilleurs coach du Monde, Dane Selznick, engagé par la Fédération russe de Volley Ball depuis Mars 2009 pour faire évoluer 3 équipes hommes et 3 équipes femmes.
Voilà le circuit mondial terminé mais déjà se dessine les compétitions 2010 avec le nouveau Swatch FIVB World Tour et surtout la nouvelle compétition intercontinentale "FIVB Beach Volleyball World Cup" qualificative aussi aux Jeux Olympiques (7 places qualificatives) qui mettra en avant les fédérations (format de compétition pays vs pays). Cette nouvelle compétition pourrait aussi permettre à plus de pays de s'engager dans la course aux qualifications Olympiques, en tous les cas c'est ce qu'espèrent les dirigeants de la FIVB.
En attendant vous pourrez suivre encore le Beach Volley pour ce qui sera la dernière compétition de Haut Niveau 2009, la 11 ème étape du Circuito Banco do Brasil qui se déroulera à Maceio (Alagoas) où Talita - Maria Elisa (N°2 mondial cette année) vont officiellement recevoir leur titre de Championnes du Brésil 2009, titre qu'elles ont acquis déjà depuis leur victoire lors de l'étape précédente.

This new competition could also allow more country to engage in the race with the Olympic qualifications, in all the cases this is that the leaders of the FIVB hope.

Pour cette dernière étape 66 équipes de 27 pays sont présentes avec cependant une absence remarquée des équipes brésiliennes.
La journée de qualifications a été marquée par la qualification des Championnes d'Espagne 2009 Liliana - Baquerizo, des anglaises Mullin - Dampney et des françaises Giordano - Hamzaoui.
Ces équipes confirment lors du Main Draw en étant toujours en course avec surtout 2 superbes matchs de la part des Championnes d'Espagne qui restent donc invaincues après 2 matchs en qualification, 2 matchs dans le Main Draw et surtout en battant Goller - Ludwig ainsi que les chinoises Ji - Xue.
