La dupla brasileña Fabianne Boogaerdt/ Julia Schmidt se adjudicó la medalla dorada en el Voleibol Playa de los IX Juegos Suramericanos Medellín 2010, al vencer en la final al equipo colombiano, compuesto por la hermanas Andrea y Claudia Galindo.

El partido se jugó a tres sets, siendo el último de desempate. El primer parcial terminó 21- 15 a favor de la dupla local, en el segundo las brasileñas recuperaron terreno y lograron forzar el tercero ganando 21-13, en el tercero y definitivo, los nervios jugaron en contra de la pareja colombiana, que cayó derrotada 15-10.

El bronce disputado entre la dupla de Venezuela, Karelys Mosquera/ Lili Valera, y las argentinas Gabriela Albano /Luciana Forguez, quedó en manos de las venezolanas, quienes vencieron a las dos sets a cero, con parciales 21-19, 21-19.

En el torneo Masculino, Igor Hernández y Jesús Villafañe, de Venezuela se adjudicaron la medalla de oro en el voleibol playa, rama masculina, de los IX Juegos Suramericanos Medellín 2010. La dupla patriota venció en dos sets a los ecuatorianos Julio Bardales y Daniel Maldonado.

Con un doble 21-13 los venezolanos, que llegaron a esta instancia venciendo en semifinales a la dupla colombiana de Mario Cabrera y Yhan Cuesta, celebraron la consecución del oro suramericano en Plaza Mayor.

El bronce en esta rama fue para la dupla de Chile, compuesta Esteban y Marco Grimalt, que venció a la dupla colombiana dos sets a uno, con parciales 15-21 en contra, 19-21 y 10-15 a favor.
