Norceca Beach Volleyball - Boca Chica - Semi finalists on the way

BOCA CHICA, Dominican Republic, March 3, 2010 – Cubans Karell Piña and Sergio Gonzalez and Mexicans Aldo Miramontes and Juan Virgen are the first semi finalists of the men’s Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament.

Piña and Gonzalez topped Seth Burnhham and Lucas Wisniakowski of USA-1 by score of 2-0 (21-12, 21-16) and Miramontes and Virgen defeated Yewddys Perez and German Recio of Dominican Republic 2-0 (21-17, 21-16).

Daniel Erazo and Eric Hadock of PUR-2 also advanced to the semi final round with a 2-1 (16-21, 21-18, 15-9) victory over Seth Burnham and Lucas Wisniakowski of USA-1.

The final-four round was completed when Dominicans Perez and Recio defeated Marcin Jagoda and Stafford Slick of USA-2, by score of 2-0 (21-11, 21-14).

Cubans Niriam Sinal and Kirenia Ballar and Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago and Dariam Acevedo claimed the first two spots in the semi finals of the women’s event of Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third leg of 2010 NORCECA Circuit.

In the quarterfinals phase, Sinal and Ballar defeated Emily Day and Angela McHenry of USA-1 by score of 2-0 (21-13, 21-13), while Santiago and Acevedo beat Guatemalans Maria Orellana and Lourdes Ramirez 2-0 (21-13, 21-15).

Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro and Americans Cayley Thurlby and Tealle Hunkus of USA-2 also made the semis through the losers’ bracket.

Morales and Alfaro defeated Emily Day and Angela McHenry of USA-1 by score of 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) and Thurlby and Hunkus beat Orellana and Ramirez of Guatemala 2-0 (21-15, 21-15).

In semi finals, Cuba will play against USA-2 and Puerto Rico will go against Costa Rica.
