Norceca Beach Volleyball - Boca Chica - Santiago/Acevedo & Miramontes/Virgen love the Podium

Mexicans Aldo Miramontes and Juan Virgen have won the men’s gold medal at Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third stage of 2010 NORCECA Circuit.

Miramontes and Virgen, winners of the previous stop at El Salvador, defeated Cubans Karell Piña and Sergio Gonzalez by score of 2-1 (17-21, 21-15, 15-10).

Dominicans Yewddys Perez and German Recio won the bronze medal with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) victory over Daniel Erazo and Eric Hadock of Puerto Rico-2.

In the semi finals, Piña and Gonzalez battled hard to prevail 2-1 (20-22, 21-14, 15-10) against Perez and Recio. Meanwhile, Miramontes and Virgen swept Erazo and Hadock 2-0 (21-16, 21-16).

Men’s Sunday Final Results: Semi Finals: MEX d. PUR-2 (21-16, 21-16), CUB d. DOM (20-22, 21-14, 15-10). Bronze Medal Match: DOM d. PUR-2 (21-17, 21-19). Gold Medal Match: MEX d. CUB (17-21, 21-15, 15-10).

In the women tournament, Puerto Ricans Yarleen Santiago won the women’s gold medal at Boca Chica Beach Volleyball Tournament, the third stop of 2010 NORCECA Circuit.

Winners of first leg of the regional competition at Cayman Islands, Santiago and Acevedo edged Cubans Niriam Sinal and Kirenia Ballar in a sensational contest by score of 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 21-19).

The Puerto Ricans have now finished on the podium in the first three tournaments of the year as they claimed the bronze in the stage at El Salvador.

In the bronze medal match, Costa Ricans Ingrid Morales and Natalia Alfaro topped USA-2 team Cayley Thurlby and Tealle Hunkus 2-0 (21-14, 21-15)

Santiago and Acevedo reached the finals with a 2-1 (22-20, 20-22, 15-12) victory over Morales and Alfaro, while Cubans Sinal and Ballar defeated Thurlby and Hunkus 2-0 (21-16, 21-12).

The fourth stop will take place next weekend at Campo Marte in downtown of Guatemala City.

Los mexicanos Aldo Miramontes y Juan Virgen han ganado la medalla de oro de hombres en el Torneo de Voleibol Playero de Boca Chica, la tercera etapa del Circuito NORCECA 2010.

Miramontes y Virgen, ganadores de la etapa anterior en El Salvador, vencieron a los cubanos Karell Piña y Sergio González por marcador de 2-1 (17-21, 21-15, 15-10).

Los dominicanos Yewddys Pérez y Germán Recio ganaron la medalla de bronce con un triunfo 2-0 (21-17, 21-19) sobre Daniel Erazo y Eric Hadock, de Puerto Rico-2.

En las semifinales, Piña y González batallaron duro para vencer 2-1 (20-22, 21-14, 15-10) a Pérez y Recio. Mientras tanto, Miramontes y Virgen barrieron a Erazo y Hadock 2-0 (21-16, 21-16).

En el torneo feminino, Las puertorriqueñas Yarleen Santiago y Dariam Acevedo ganaron la medalla de oro en el Torneo de Voleibol de Playa de Boca Chica, la tercera etapa del Circuito NORCECA 2010.

Ganadoras de la primera etapa de la competencia regional en Islas Caimán, Santiago y Acevedo superaron a las cubanas Niriam Sinal y Kirenia Ballar en un encuentro sensacional por marcador de 2-1 (19-21, 21-19, 21-19).

Las puertorriqueñas ahora han finalizado en el podio en los primeros tres torneos del año ya que conquistaron el bronce en la etapa de El Salvador.

En el cotejo por la medalla de bronce, las costarricenses Ingrid Morales y Natalia Alfaro superaron al equipo USA-2 formado por Cayley Thurlby y Tealle Hunkus 2-0 (21-14, 21-15).

Santiago y Acevedo llegaron a la final con un triunfo 2-1 (22-20, 20-22, 15-12) sobre Morales and Alfaro, mientras que Sinal y Ballar vencieron a Thurlby and Hunkus por marcador de 2-0 (21-16, 21-12).

La cuarta parada tendrá lugar el próximo fin de semana en Campo Marte en el centro de Ciudad Guatemala.
