Seven teams from six countries earned a spot in the qualification tournament at the FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour Silesia Open. Host country Poland advanced two teams after the country quota matches on Tuesday at Slupna Park in Myslowice, the other teams are from the Netherlands, Italy, Czech Republic, Canada and Brazil.
The FIVB SWATCH World Tour Silesia Open will continue on Wednesday with the qualification tournament, starting at 8.30, with almost 60 teams playing for eight spots in main draw. The main draw matches will start on Thursday with the semifinals scheduled for Saturday and the medal matches for Sunday.
The town of Myslowice, located 70 km outside Krakow, is hosting the FIVB SWATCH World Tour for the fifth time after successfully hosting the Junior and World Championships in 2006 en 2007. The first World Tour edition in 2008 was a women’s only event, as was the 2011 event. In 2009 and 2010 only the men travelled to Myslowice. Two years ago USA’s Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers beat Spain’s Adrian Gavira and Pablo Herrera in the final while Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann from Germany won bronze.
